FORMER BROCTON MAN INDICTED IN BUFFALO
Carl Johnson, Who Conducted Village Newspaper, Faces Charges in Connection with Alleged Fake Wrestling.

Carl Johnson, who for a year or more was editor of the Brocton Enterprise, which recently suspended publication, together with Sidney H. Hill, alias Young Farmer Burns and Eugene Comstock, arrested in connection with the alleged wrestling swindle at Roland on October 28, were today indicted by the Erie county grand jury in Buffalo on charges of grand larceny first degree.
According to the investigation of District Attorney Dadley, more than $20,000 has been collected by the gang of men working the wrestling swindle in this vicinity.
Hill was also at one time a resident of Brocton, a couple of weeks ago moving to Fredonia it is said.
The information which led to the arrest of the three men is said to have been furnished by Harry Lathrop, who conducts a a saloon at 255 Landon street, Buffalo, who also until a couple of weeks ago, lived in Brocton where he conducted a milk route and engaged in farming. Lathrop it is alleged lost $1,100 in the wrestling game.
Several months ago a wrestling match was pulled off in Brocton which is said to have been promoted by Johnson. As far as known this match was on “the square.”
